Joining Forces With a Post-Pandemic Taskforce

Glob­al Tal­ent Men­tor­ing is pleased to announce a new part­ner­ship with the Advanced Mate­r­i­al Pan­dem­ic and Future Pre­pared­ness Task­force (AMPT).
AMPT is an inde­pen­dent, inter­na­tion­al pub­lic-ben­e­fit orga­ni­za­tion com­mit­ted to facil­i­tat­ing the glob­al use of advanced mate­ri­als to solve some of humanity’s most imme­di­ate chal­lenges and emerg­ing needs. Head­quar­tered in the Unit­ed States, AMPT was found­ed in 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pan­dem­ic, but with a longer-term mis­sion to facil­i­tate inter­na­tion­al cross-dis­ci­pline col­lab­o­ra­tion to use mate­r­i­al sci­ence at the ser­vice of soci­ety and human­i­ty. Through the use of advanced mate­ri­als, AMPT aims to proac­tive­ly solve press­ing glob­al prob­lems by align­ing the knowl­edge and actions of lead­ers from acad­e­mia, indus­try, and pol­i­cy-mak­ing orga­ni­za­tions. These care­ful­ly select­ed indi­vid­u­als and the orga­ni­za­tions they rep­re­sent help to cre­ate an inter­na­tion­al “future pre­pared­ness” infra­struc­ture and shape nation­al and inter­na­tion­al agen­das that will max­i­mize the pos­i­tive impact of advanced mate­ri­als on soci­ety and human life. AMPT mem­bers rep­re­sent thir­ty lead­ing uni­ver­si­ties and insti­tu­tions in STEMM locat­ed on four con­ti­nents. AMPT has cre­at­ed an advanced net­work of orga­ni­za­tions, a com­pre­hen­sive library of knowl­edge, and a roadmap of user-cen­tric needs. Togeth­er, the offer­ings deliv­er a frame­work for devis­ing strate­gies, coor­di­nat­ing glob­al activ­i­ties, and fast-track­ing solu­tions to address the urgent tech­no­log­i­cal and soci­etal needs of the post-pan­dem­ic world. 
Glob­al Tal­ent Men­tor­ing and AMPT are part­ner­ing to help real­ize the shared goals of solv­ing some of humanity’s most press­ing chal­lenges and advanc­ing the glob­al tal­ent pipeline in sci­ence, tech­nol­o­gy, engi­neer­ing, math­e­mat­ics, and med­ical sci­ences (STEMM)—particularly in areas where STEMM tal­ent devel­op­ment resources might be lim­it­ed. With­in this con­text, AMPT has com­mit­ted to help­ing iden­ti­fy STEMM experts from across the globe in order to enable excep­tion­al­ly tal­ent­ed youth in the Glob­al South to par­tic­i­pate in Glob­al Tal­ent Men­tor­ing as mentees. Such part­ner­ships enable Glob­al Tal­ent Men­tor­ing to expand its inter­na­tion­al net­work of STEMM tal­ent, as well as broad­en the reach of the pos­i­tive impact it makes in the lives of out­stand­ing youths in STEMM.
