About the institution

Founded in 1946, Seoul National University (SNU) is one of the most prestigious universities in Korea and the world. According to Times Higher Education (THE) and Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), SNU ranked eighth in Asia (2022) and 29th in the world (2023). Constituting sixteen colleges, SNU hosts multiple collegial and intercollegiate research institutions, government-funded research centers, and development programs for upgrading research infrastructure. Many of SNU’s departments and institutes, especially in the field of engineering and natural sciences, are now globally recognized for their cutting-edge research—they are placed within top 20 worldwide in terms of publications and citations of the Scientific Citation Index (SCI). SNU is rapidly promoting its international collaborations and exchange programs with the purpose of becoming the academic hub of Asia.
