About the institution

The Min­istry of Edu­ca­tion, Cul­ture, Sports, Sci­ence, and Tech­nol­o­gy (MEXT) plans and pro­pos­es basic poli­cies to real­ize con­tin­u­ous inno­va­tion in sci­ence and tech­nol­o­gy, imple­ment­ing cross-sec­toral ini­tia­tives in line with its sci­ence and tech­nol­o­gy inno­va­tion poli­cies. Spe­cif­ic ini­tia­tives include research and assess­ments on sci­ence and tech­nol­o­gy and devel­op­ment of human resources in sci­ence and tech­nol­o­gy, from stu­dents to lead­ing researchers and engi­neers. MEXT also strate­gi­cal­ly pro­motes inter­na­tion­al activ­i­ties in sci­ence and tech­nol­o­gy areas and col­lab­o­ra­tion among uni­ver­si­ties, indus­tries, and the gov­ern­ment; advances sci­ence and tech­nol­o­gy in region­al areas; and works on improv­ing, shar­ing and cre­at­ing research plat­forms for research and devel­op­ment infrastructure.
