About the institution

Kotebe Met­ro­pol­i­tan Uni­ver­si­ty (KMU), found­ed in 1976, offers edu­ca­tion through the grad­u­ate lev­el in eight dif­fer­ent col­leges: the Col­lege of Edu­ca­tion and Behav­ioral Stud­ies, Col­lege of Nat­ur­al and Com­pu­ta­tion­al Sci­ences, Fac­ul­ty of Lan­guages and Human­i­ties, Fac­ul­ty of Urban Devel­op­ment Stud­ies, Fac­ul­ty of Social Sci­ences, Fac­ul­ty of Busi­ness and Eco­nom­ics, Sport Acad­e­my, and Sci­ence and Tech­nol­o­gy Inno­va­tion Cen­ter. KMU is one of the few uni­ver­si­ties in Ethiopia to start a STEM pro­gram for tal­ent­ed ele­men­tary and sec­ondary school stu­dents. KMU has also start­ed a sci­ence shared cam­pus which is cur­rent­ly men­tor­ing approx­i­mate­ly 350 high per­form­ing stu­dents select­ed in Addis Aba­ba. Fur­ther­more, the uni­ver­si­ty has des­ig­nat­ed a sep­a­rate body to pro­mote STEM edu­ca­tion in the uni­ver­si­ty and sup­port as many tal­ent­ed stu­dents as possible.
