About the institution

The ATCS is a non-governmental and non-profit organization with a more than 70-year-long tradition of working with the young adult population in the fields of science and technology. The ATCS’s mission is to popularize technology and science, educate and encourage innovation, creativity, and research (among young people in particular); to raise awareness of the safe, economical and effective use of energy; and to encourage the search for alternative resources, the care for the environment, and the search for and use of contemporary people- and nature-friendly technological solutions. The ATCS’s team is experienced in addressing and encouraging young people to engage in various activities and provide their innovative proposals of solutions to various problems in society. The ATCS is accepted as the main organization that covers the field of science and technology in Slovenia. The organization cooperates with many associations in various specialized fields, as well with all four Slovenian universities (University of Ljubljana, University of Maribor, University of Nova Gorica, and University of Primorska). Every year, the ATCS activities attract more than 60,000 children and young people, as well as 5,000 scientists, teachers, tutors, and other experts.
