The Hon­or­able Dr. Sekazi K. Mting­wa is an Amer­i­can physi­cist who has been serv­ing as a part-time tech­ni­cal judge of the U.S. Nuclear Reg­u­la­to­ry Commission’s Atom­ic Safe­ty and Licens­ing Board since 2016. He is also co-founder and prin­ci­pal con­sul­tant of Tri­an­gle Sci­ence, Edu­ca­tion, and Eco­nom­ic Devel­op­ment (TriSEED Con­sul­tants) in North Car­oli­na (Unit­ed States), a con­sult­ing com­pa­ny that sup­ports under­rep­re­sent­ed groups in STEM. Dr. Mting­wa co-found­ed sev­er­al soci­eties and com­mit­tees, such as the Nation­al Soci­ety of Black Physi­cists and the African Phys­i­cal Soci­ety. Dr. Mting­wa has received numer­ous recog­ni­tions, includ­ing the Amer­i­can Phys­i­cal Society’s 2017 Robert R. Wil­son Prize for Out­stand­ing Achieve­ment in the Physics of Par­ti­cle Accel­er­a­tors for his work on intra­beam scat­ter­ing. Dr. Mting­wa received his degrees from the Mass­a­chu­setts Insti­tute of Tech­nol­o­gy (MIT) and Prince­ton Uni­ver­si­ty. His research areas include nuclear, accel­er­a­tor, and high-ener­gy physics, as well as nuclear ener­gy policy.
