Dear Newsletter Subscribers,
This newsletter heralds a special milestone. In October 2024, all program operations will shift to the Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences (Hamdan Foundation) in Dubai, a well-recognized entity with international projects in the field of education.
We want to thank all the organizations and individuals who made it possible for us to conceptualize, realize, and operate Global Talent Mentoring over these past years. A first of its kind, we designed the program to support outstanding youths and young adults who are intensely passionate about reaching the highest levels of achievement in a specific STEMM area. Due to the extreme demands of reaching the pinnacles in complex fields, we planned the mentoring program as a ten-year program.
This has only been possible thanks to the unparalleled generosity and vision of the Hamdan Foundation and the amazing support of the other stakeholders—the Universities of Regensburg and Erlangen-Nuremberg, dozens of passionate staff members in Regensburg, Nuremberg, and Dubai, and all of you for whom we have done this: our amazing nominees and mentees, our eminent and extremely generous volunteer mentors, and our remarkable partner organizations in more than 50 countries.
Working with all of you has been a wonderful experience. We are proud to have had the chance to conceptualize the program over the period of four years and to accompany the first three years of its initial ten-year pilot.
We are confident that Global Talent Mentoring will continue to expand and evolve under the aegis of colleagues working at the Hamdan Foundation. We encourage all of you—our partners, supporters, mentors, mentees, parents, and others—to stay the course on this worldwide one-of-a-kind educational initiative. The transfer of all program operations to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has consequences for your personal data held by Global Talent Mentoring. EU law requires us to point this out to you. As of 8 October 2024, all the personal data you have provided (e.g., your name, your email address) will be controlled solely by the Hamdan Foundation. The Hamdan Foundation needs this information to operate Global Talent Mentoring. As the Hamdan Foundation is in the UAE, it may choose to adhere to privacy policies that are not in line with those of the European Union, although the European Union requires all organizations targeting EU citizens to adhere to their privacy laws. If you do not consent to this transfer of the personal data held about you by Global Talent Mentoring, please unsubscribe no later than 30 September 2024.
We wish everyone in the extended Global Talent Mentoring family all the best and are excited to see how the program and all its participants and stakeholders develop in the upcoming years.
In closing, we want to introduce our point of contact at the Hamdan Foundation, Dr. Mariam Ali Alghawi (MAlGhawi@ha.ae). Many of you involved in education research and practice will already know her. Dr. Ali Alghawi is Director of Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Center for Giftedness and Innovation and will become your main representative for Global Talent Mentoring starting on 8 October 2024.
